SCRIPT SCENE 1: In the meeting room. Emma enters in the room and sees that her journalist friend, is not fine. E : Hey Claudie-Anne/friend! How are you (doing) ?  *Putting her stuff on a chair. Claudie-Anne is sitting on a chair and thinking with a sad face* (Worried) Are you okay? C-A :  What?! Oh yes, I am okay... I was thinking about something. E : It doesn't seem... (Tidying the table) What are you thinking about? C-A: Do you remember the tsunami in Asia in 2004. About ten years ago I lost my cousin in this catastrophe. ..... But why are you moving so much? E : Because it was a bit messy and I have ordered pizzas, it will relax you to eat something, I think.  C-A : Thanks but can you, please, stop moving for few minutes? E : Yes, i'm sitting right now. (sitting) C-A : I have some family who survived. I contacted them a few days ago. They explained me it was difficult with  unemployement and  tourism became vul...

« E : We are sorry for you..

My friend lost a member of her family who lived there.

L: And then I became very interested in this tsunami and I did a lot of research to understand it! C-A : What kind of?! L : On why the tsunami happened.

In the Indian Ocean, Indo-Australian and Euroasian plates are superposing.

There are many faults there.

There is a subduction which means the Indo-Autralian plate goes under the Euroasian plate.

E : Yes, we know that, we are scientific journalists.

L : I didn't know! But I am proud of my work so let me finish please.

So plates slipped over 10 meters in 1 minute 30! So there were a lot of energy which was realeased and it created an elevation of a plate wich created (find a synonym) a wave.

It was the beginning of the tsunami.

It went to the Asian continent and to Africa which is 6000km away! And the epicenter was near Sumatra Island, in Indonesia.

C-A : Wow! You know a lot of things about it! Congratulations! L: It is for my friends who died that I did it....

(took a piece of pizza) SCENE 4: *knoking* Léa : Hey! oh you are eating! ....

with the delivery-girl? C-A : Yes it is a kind of new friend now.

E : Lea come to eat with us! Léa : Sure! L : We were talking about the tsunami in 2004 where ...

(watching C-A) C-A: Claudie-Anne L: Sorry..

Where C-A and I lost someone..

Léa : Oh yes it was terrible, I saw the damages in *pays à choisir* E : they would have been warned if they had better equipments L : yes i agree with you.

If alarms rang , they would have been less victims...

C-A : But I think they installed new fittings in order to avoid a new catastrophe with such an important death toll Léa : When I was younger, I was benevol in Thailand, I ttook care ofvictims and helped the country to protect the population against tsunamies.

C-A : What did you do for? Léa : I planted mangrove swamps to reduce tsunami's power along coasts and I rebuilt new houses but in safe areas because before there were a lot of houses which were in danger.

E : Yes and they built a detecting system in Jakarta and loudspeakers to inform the population in case of catastrophes.

C-A : There wasn't any center for that in 2004? E : The nearest and only one was the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii.

L : I heard on television that Thai government set up effective and fast detectors of earthquakes and tsunamies.

Oh gosh, it has been two hours I did my delivery for you! It was nice to meet. »
