King Kong (motion picture) King Kong (motion picture, 1933), film about an enormous ape who kidnaps a young woman and terrorizes New York City. Released in 1933, the film features innovative special effects and a musical score by Max Steiner. After American showman Carl Denham (played by Robert Armstrong) finds King Kong on a remote island, Kong kidnaps and falls in love with a member of Denham's entourage (Fay Wray). Denham rescues the woman and captures the ape, then brings King Kong back to New York City.
