Words, actions, and attitudes
directed against Jews because they are Jews. The
term was actually coined in 1879 by Wilhelm
Marr, a German conservative politician, to identify
an anti-Jewish racial policy that he and his fellow
conservatives advocated. In the 20th century anti-
Semitism led to the murder of roughly 6 million
Jews in the HOLOCAUST.
