Dear [Mr or Mrs or Sirs],    We thank you for your letter of [date] and are interested by the proposition you make us to act as your sole agent in [pays].    We think we are in position to handle this job because of our experience in the business. As you may know, we already deal with success as agent for foreign firms with many retailers here, especially with [type de magasins]. However, we would like to clarify certain points before we make our decision.    You suggest an annual turnover of [quantité]. Though we agree there is an increasing demand for [produits] in this country, we think that this projection is optimistic. We would rather count on half of the quantity you mentioned. Consequently, a commission of [pourcentage] seems to be low, and we would expect a minimum of [pourcentage], knowing that the sales representation  implies expenses, such as [exemples].    We also think that it would be more convenient for customers to pay us directly, and would then remit quarterly account sales after deducting our commission. However, we are prepared to discuss with you about this matter.    Otherwise, we agree about your holding of the stock, but would like to point out that, in case of a rush of orders, especially in september, the delay of delivery should be shortened to two weeks. A period of four weeks waiting is likely to discourage the customers.    If these terms are satisfactory to you, we would be pleased to act as your agent here and to sign an initial one-year contract with you.    We look forward to hearing from you.    Yours sincerely  [votre nom]  [votre fonction]
