Give an example of Vladek’s miserly ways in this chapter.
As example of Vladek’s miserly was when he was going from work and passed by Anja in Birkenau camp. On his way’ he tried to ask Anja if she got the food he sent to her. Unfortunately a guard heard when he was talking to Anja and screamed to him asking him who he was talking to. Vladek answered nobody but the guard did not trust what he said. Then the guard brought him to a room where he beat him hard. This is an example of Vladek’s miserly in this chapter.
How did Anja get her mean Kapo to be nice to her
In Bikernau, Anja was still having a terrible time, Kapo beat her at the slightest infraction. The kapo’s shoes, however, were falling apart, and Anja suggested she sent them to Vladek in Auschwitz to be repaired. When the shoes came back, they were as good as new, and Kapo treat Anja far better from that on point.
Why can Manice be categorized as a hero?
Manice can be categorized as a hero because she risked her life by helping Vladek. She passed notes and food between Vladek and Anja. If she was caught, in this offense, it would be surely mean death. Her action was heroic.
