Dear [Mr or Mrs or Sirs], I thank you for your letter of [date], in which you offered us to act as your agent in [pays]. We pay great interest in your proposition for two reasons: on the one hand we do agree with you that the demand for [produits] here is increasing; on the other hand we are in position to handle this job because of our experience in the business. As you may know, we already deal with success as agent for foreign firms with many retailers here, especially with [type de magasins]. However, we would like to clarify certain points before we make our decision. First of all, we wish to be your sole agent for your products in [pays]. About payment of accounts, would customers pay you direct in [pays du fournisseur] or will they pay us, and we would settle with you after deduction of our commission? How should it be proceeded for the payment [bank draft, letter of credit, bill of exchange]? We would like to suggest that [mode de paiement] is more convenient, because [raisons]. About delivery, do you expect us to hold stocks or will you supply from stock? In this case, how long will it take for an order to be proceeded and shipped once received? You mention that you would be willing to offer advertising support. We would be grateful if you would give us more details about this point. How long would this contract last? We suggest two years, because this lapse of time would allow us to see how your products sell over here. In case of disagreement about the terms of the contract, who would be referred to in arbitration? We thank you in anticipation to send us this information and, eventually, to enclose a draft contract. We would then quickly give you our answer. We do hope to be working for [société] in the next future and look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely [votre nom] [votre fonction]
