Greek An ancient city of Greece situated
in Argos, in the northern Peloponnesus. It was
the center of the important Mycenaean civilization,
which was roughly contemporary with that of the
Minoan civilization of Crete. In mythology, Mycenae
was the royal city of Agamemnon.
