Chapter 5 Marian Halcombe’s Narrative Laura and Marian doesn’t have anyone to protect us. Walter is in America , Mr Gilmore is ill and he’s in Germany, and there uncle Frederick Fairlie is a lazy Hypochondriac. Laura and Marian wrote him a letter asking if they could return to Limmeridge House. Then Percical speak to the Count in private because Sir Percival wouldn’t that Laura and Marian can heard the conversation. So Marian said that she had an headhache but she will hear the conversation.Then Marian go to the room next to the count and Percival where. She opened the windows and heard the conversation.  Ther spoke about money and the Count said that Marian is too intelligent and Percival and the Count couldn’t stole the money. The count asked Percival about Laura’s money. Because he said that he was at a financial crisis. Then they spoke about Laura’s money and the inheritage. Percival aswered to the Count that if Laura dies he will receive twenty thousand pounds. But Marian will receive ten thousands pounds ! Percival said that he had a secret and Laura and Walter and Anne Catherick known it. Percival said that Walter and Laura are in love. And then he said that Anne Catherick said the secret and he would like to find her. Then he described the woman in white to the Count. And then Marian returned to her room and realise that he was ill !   Eliza Michelson’s narrative. Eliza is the servant who manages the cooking and cleaning of the house. She took care of Marian when she was ill. Percival said to Eliza as soon Marian became better he will go to Paris and Marian and Laura will return to Cumberland. The count and the countess wiil go to their new house in London. And asked Eliza to manage the house during he’s gone.  The next day when the Count was outside , Percival asked him if then had find the woman in white. The count didn’t answer but he smiled. Then  the next day the count and his wife were gone to London.  Then Percival lied to Laura and said that Marian left the house and was in Cumberland. But that was not true, Percival said that was the only way to make Laura go to Cumberland. Then Eliza left the house.   The cook’s narrative When Laura arrived at London a Doctor examined and and said that  a serious case of heart disease. She won’t live much longer. And the next day she died. Then the cook answered two questions that walter asked her. 1)   The cook never saw Count Fosco give Lady Glye any Medicine 2)   Count Fosco was never alone in the room with her. The doctor’s narrative He certfied that Lady Glye was really dead and the cause was heart disease.

Then  the next day the count and his wife were gone to London.  Then Percival lied to Laura and said that Marian left the house and was in Cumberland.

But that was not true, Percival said that was the only way to make Laura go to Cumberland.
