« In recent weeks, the Brazilian Government took measures to protect small farmers and environmentalists threatened   with death in the Amazon. In may, a couple of activists was murdered in an ambush in the State of Pará.               The work of census conducted this year by the NGO Global Witness,   two people are killed every week because of their commitment to the environment.                              Activists,   representatives of indigenous peoples, they are threatened and persecuted by paramilitary organizations, private   militias and even the official font. This figure, of course difficult to establish with accuracy, would have doubled   since 2000. Just some days before the Winter Olympic Games start in Sochi, an activist was arrested. Sadly, such arrests are not   unusual in Russia, but the timing of this particular arrest sent a chilling message across Russian civil society.                              The environmentalist Yevgeny Vitishko was planning on traveling to Sochi today   but was stopped by police, convicted of “petty hooliganism” and sentenced to 15 days in administrative detention. His   crime? According to Russian authorities he cursed while standing at a bus stop. A group of passionate and adventurous young people leave their known worlds behind to spend 100 days in the jungles of Borneo.

Their mission is to confront one of the great global challenges of our time, saving rainforests and giving hope to endangered orangutans.
