Times (The). quotidien britannique d'informations générales. Fondé en 1785, The Times devint rapidement le quotidien le plus prestigieux de la presse britannique. Il fut l'un des premiers journaux à travailler avec des correspondants à l'étranger. Proche du parti libéral, il adopta, à partir de la fin du XIXe siècle, des positions plus conservatrices. En 1979, une longue grève ouvrit une crise au sein du journal. Celui-ci fut racheté en 1981 par le groupe News Corporation de Rupert Murdoch. Après une baisse du tirage, il connaît aujourd'hui un renouveau certain, avec une diffusion de plus de 600 000 exemplaires, ayant renoncé à l'austérité de ton et de présentation qui l'avait rendu célèbre.
