This is the smallest and most sparsely populated of the three Baltic states.
Estonia is a country of plains and low hills covered with numerous marshy depressions which cover more than 10 % of the land. Its natural resources are few, limited to the oil shale in the north.
The country has a continental climate tempered by the expanses of water of the Baltic Sea.
