Religions of Middle East - geography. Religions of Southwest Asia Middle East was the birthplace of three of the world's major religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. These religions all profess monotheism--the belief that there is a single god--and both Christianity and Islam draw on the more ancient traditions of Judaism. Today most of the region's people are Muslims, but significant minorities practice other religions.
