I INTRODUCTION St. Lawrence River, Québec Québec, a name derived from an Algonquian term meaning "place where the river narrows," is a Canadian city that lies on the juncture of the St. Lawrence and St. Charles rivers. In 1867 Britain's Parliament passed the British North America Act, which formed the Dominion of Canada and included the St.
