« Today we are going to talk about the pollution in beijing and progress made in improving air quality. Thus, how Beijing deals with pollution and global warming ? First, we are going to present the city, then the risks and consequences about pollution and finally we are going to show the measures taken to reduce the risks. I- Beijing is the second largest city of China with more than 20 million inhabitants and became the capital of the country after the Second World War.

The city is known for its Great Wall, its ancient temple and palaces but it also offers a big skyline and is becoming a hub for technology and is one of the most expensive cities in China. It is also known for its unforgiving pollution, indeed China's polluted environment is mostly a result of the country's fast development given that Beijing has reached the level of relatively rich countries as defined by the World Bank criteria.

And therefore led to a large increase in primary energy consumption, which is mainly provided by coal-fired power plants.

As we can see on the graph, the main energies used are coal and oil and there is not much of natural gas and renewable energy which are a lot better for the environment.

China has a climate dominated by dry seasons and wet monsoons, which make strong temperature differences in winter and summer and it does not get better with climate change. II- China is the largest producer and consumer of coal, and the largest emitter of carbon dioxide ( die ok side) and is now responsible for more than a quarter of the world's overall greenhouse gas emissions. The main environmental issues facing the country are heavy air pollution and also water pollution as well as excessive traffic. Indeed there has been a traffic explosion, in 7 years the number of car production has tripled and went from 25M in 2005 to 75M in 2011.. »
