Migrations to the US began in 1815, about 30 millions of Europeans ( irish, jews, Italians,..) came to the US during this period. For them this country was seen as the land of freedom. Freedom from oppression, to worship from want, fear, to create. It's during this period that the American dream was born. That's what the immigrants were looking for, and are still looking for by coming to the land of Uncle Sam, even if from 1960, we can observe a change of origin of the people going to the us.
