The ultimate goal of progress has always been to make our lives easier and longer but I have the feeling that every improvement alllows drawbacks, and those drawbacks don't always have to be seen too late in fact we have the possibility to counter those cons. This idea is obvious with medical progress, there is clearly a debate about selective breeding, this method has been applied on animals and plants for a moment and could be applied to humans. But today, embryo selection is only used to prevent life-threatning diseases and mental retardation...

« adapt to the speed of the web, we changed our rythms and want   everything to be faster. When we used to go to the library to buy a book   now you can buy it just from your device at home and start reading it the   minute after. We listened to an interview from a publisher that wasn’t   complaining about ebooks even if they’re destroying his business but he   just said we had to adapt and progress was a kind of cycle, what’s   happening with books happened with CD’s before. Things are more and more denaturated and we accomodated ourselves   with rythms that aren’t the way they’re supposed to be. Because the more efficient is progress the less human it is.. »
