(Water Creature) Greek A many-headed
serpent, the offspring of Echidna and Typhon. When
one head was chopped off, another grew in its place.
The second labor of Heracles was to kill the dreaded
serpent. Hydra's blood was venomous. Arrows or
garments dipped in it killed Chiron, the centaur;
Nessus; and Philoctetes.
