Roman A spirit of the sea and wind,
most likely a Nymph, known for her kindness. Some
ancient sources identify her as the wife of the god
Janus. Others say she was the wife of Daunus, an
early king of the Rutuli, and with him the mother of
Turnus and Juturna. Venilia's sister, Amata, was the
wife of Latinus, an early king of Latium, a kingdom
in Central Italy near Rome.
