?The Idea of progress             I?m going to talk about the notion « The idea of progress ». How can we describe this notion ?  We live in a world that is constantly changing wether in its technology or in its culture. Therefore it is possible today to choose by ourselves to do things that we think would be good for our life for example our professional career or where even we want to live in the future thanks to a really globalized world. But in some case « progress » can become a subject of debate. I studied with my school three documents about this notion. The first one is called « Another Girl »  which is an extract of the novel Secret Daughter, by Somaya Gowda, the second one is Changing India from the novel « Farewell to an Indian I Hardly Knew » by Giridharadas, the last one is short bigraphy of Indira Gandhi, a Prime Minister in the sixties. « considered as a burden just like the father says in the second document: « She will become a burden to us, a drain on our family.

».

Therefore, families would sell them because they can’t do any physical work to earn money.

But the current generation is over this point of view and more and more women are high earners and high placed in the working business.

To sum up everything, we can say that India is a figure of progress in many ways wether it’s in its culture or its economy.

However some issues like gender acceptation is still remaining even if the number od successful women across the world is increasing very quickly. Progress should not only apply to the economy or the politics but also to social acceptation.

Your gender is not a disease.

There is no pathology.

Therefore we can say that everyone should have a chance to prove themselves, doesn’t matter if your a girl or a boy because everyone has a value.. »
