Greek The swiftest of all horses, possibly
winged. He was born from the union between Demeter
(who changed herself into a mare) and the sea
god Poseidon, who changed himself into a stallion.
Arion belonged first to the hero Heracles, and then
to Adrastus, king of Argos. In the war called the
seven against Thebes, Adrastus was the only one to
survive, thanks to the wonders of Arion.
