Macedonia is completely landlocked.
In the heart of the Balkans, Macedonia is a mountainous country cut in two by the deep valley of the Vardar, a former major road route linking Greece to the rest of Western Europe.
Macedonia has a moderate continental climate, subject through the Vardar valley to strong Mediterranean influences.
