Greek An island in the Aegean Sea southeast
of Greece. It is famous in Greek mythology
as the place where Theseus abandoned Ariadne,
daughter of King Minos, after she helped him find
his way out of the labyrinth. Naxos was a center for
the worship of Dionysus.
