  Bartholomaeus Spranger (Anvers 1546 - Prague 1611) Peintre et graveur flamand. S'étant établi à Rome, il devint peintre du pape en 1570 ; puis il fut peintre de cour à Vienne et à Prague, qui devint grâce à lui un des centres les plus féconds du Maniérisme international. Il peignit peu de tableaux à sujet sacré et de nombreux tableaux mythologiques, en synthétisant ses multiples expériences en une extrême élégance de la composition et du coloris.
