English Debate : Actually, men and women are there really equal ? Women's side : For 200 years, the parity between men and women has steadily progressed. But this reality forbid still women, many efforts still to be done with a view to a more complete parity. Argument 1 : Since 1789, women's emancipation movments allowed them to advance in the society : like protection against abusive labor of their rôle as mother, gradual opening up of education and jobs for women, or even the law on voluntary interruption of pregnancy in 1975. But currently, their rôle is still lower than that of men, they stay the secondary sex. That's why each year, the eighth march, the international day for women's rights is celebrated. This celebration takes his origine in the manifestations of women in the beginning of the XX° century. Argument 2 : In France, the women have for a long time a legal status inferior that of men. The legal incapacity of the wife was abolished by the Act of February 18, 1938, their legal equality cale only in 1960-70, with for ewample the using of a check-book without the consent of the husband. But today, at political and administrative level, we count still today this mentality where people don't want in any case be headed by woman. Indeed this is confirmed when you look at their distribution by sex : at the national level, there is still only 18,5 % of women in the National Assembly and 21,8 % in the Senate. Do you think that is normal to don't have this mixed nature of sex, while these two institutions hold the legislative power ! And similarly in the public service companies of in the senior civil service, women remain a small minority in leadership. Argument 3 : Although proportionally more large that men to access to higher studies, women remain less present in the most sectors listed, and suffer more unemployment. The wape gap is also against them. In 2009 for example, the average net monthly salary of a man working full-time was 2240 euros, while a woman was 1834 euros, do you think that is normal to have this ecart of 18,1 %, while in general the woman succeed better their studies. Argument 4 : Concerning violence, especially domestic, women are predominantly the victims (as regard sexual assaults, 99 % of raps are due to men). Since the beginning of the XX° century, women were passive in relation to their sexuality. But still today, in some countries, women are treated as household objects. Furthermore, polygamy is almost always male. Argument 5 : Finally, in some Asian countries, since their birth, women are exclued of the life because later, their marriage dowry demand too much money.
