Norwich Terrier. Norwich Terrier, breed of small dog, popular in Britain in the last two decades of the 19th century and introduced in the United States in 1914. The dog is useful for hunting rabbits and other small game and is popular as a pet. The Norwich terrier is 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12 in) high at the withers and weighs about 5 kg (about 11 lb). It has dark, bright eyes; a strong jaw; a short, strong neck; short and powerful legs; and a medium-size tail. The coat is hard and wiry, usually red in color, but sometimes either black and tan or grizzle. The dog is a hardy, active animal and is noted for its loyalty.
