Silky Terrier. Silky Terrier, toy breed of dog developed in Australia in the early 20th century from the Yorkshire terrier and the Australian terrier, which was in turn derived from the Skye terrier. Standing up to 25 cm (10 in) at the shoulder, it has erect ears; its long, flat, silky coat is tan and blue. The breed was first shown in 1907.
