« THE DALIT The Dalit situation in India is a complex and multifaceted issue rooted in centuries of discrimination and social inequality.

Dalits, also known as « Scheduled Castes » or « untouchables », belong to the lowest rung of the Indian caste system.

Synthesizing the Dalit situation involves understanding various aspects of their social, economic, political, and cultural conditions.

Thus, we will focus on their current situation and the fight for equality regarding all these various aspects. First, Dalit is a term used in India to refer to a historically marginalized and oppressed group of people who have been subjected to social and economic discrimination for centuries.

They were subject to extreme forms of discrimination, including segregation, restricted access to public spaces, and forced labor.

Dalits have always been in a phase of social reproduction, which over time has become increasingly contrasted despite the fact that caste-based discrimination has been illegal in India for over 70 years. On the one hand, the Dalits’ sole weapon in fighting for their cause is lying: they have to deny the "identity" that the repressive system imposes on them by being convincing in their lies, because the Dalits are constantly referred to the caste to which they belong.

Otherwise, the truth traps them in a loop and closes the door on any improvement in living conditions; access to knowledge, work and social relations is denied. On the other hand, the most "privileged" of the Dalits, known as the "EliteDalit", who have access to basic needs, would be considered "normal" among the Savarnas.
