In 1607 the foundation of Jamestown (Virginia) inaugurated the
English colonization.
It is a colonization of settlement, carried out
by emigrants persecuted in their country for their religious or
political convictions.
In 1620, the Pilgrim Fathers, (religious dissidents followers of
Puritanism), arrived aboard the Mayflower Puritan emigration
continued until 1642, leading to the creation of the other
colonies of New England.
These colonies developed an often
theocratic and intolerant society, based on a very rich spiritual
life (founding of Harvard University, in 1636).

The southern colonies developed a politico-religious and socioeconomic structure very different from the northern colonies.
Essentially agricultural, they are based on a plantation economy
(tobacco, cotton) that requires an abundant workforce.
II-Independence of the United State
July 4, 1776: In Philadelphia, representatives of the thirteen
English colonies of America adopt a Solemn Declaration of
Independence.
June 13, 1777: The Marquis de La Fayette, won to the
American cause, enlists in the American army.
October 17, 1777: English defeat at Saratoga.
The France
engages in the conflict.
February 6, 1778: the France and the United States sign a
treaty of alliance, the France goes to war with England.
October 19, 1781: Cornwallis capitulates....
