« Oral anglais Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée. The last past decades we could have notice an important augmentation of the part of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

This increase has many bad impacts for the environment and has repercussion on many ecosystems and populations. For example, a collapse of the biodiversity in Amazonia and more generally on the entire world is happening, the glaciers are melting and the level of the ocean is rising.

But in some case these consequences of the global warming can be applied on local populations and specifically on minorities.

That’s why I will present you one of these situations even if alas I could have present you many others. But let’s not beat around the bush, the country that I am about to tell you is located in the Pacific Ocean.

Divided in two different parts in the second biggest island in the world (behind Groen land) I want to talk about Papua New Guinea. Before I deal with the heart of the subject let’s have a brief contextualization of the political and social situation.

The island of New Guinea is divided in two distinct countries namely Papua New Guinea in the east, and the region of Papua colonized by the Dutch and become subsequently an Indonesian area.

To summarise New Guinea has on the one hand Papua, that is an Indonesian’s province, and on the other hand Papua New Guinea that form an independent state since 1975 and join the Commonwealth the same year. Straight away I will recount the place minorities have in the Island of new Guinea and more specifically in Papua New Guinea.

In fact, even if it is not a country there is a population that have been living in the island for about 50 000 thousand years.

They are called Papuans, and are about.... »
