Spaces and Exchanges - Asian immigration in America

Spaces and exchanges. This notion deals with the geographical and symbolic areas that all societies occupy and the interactions between men and different societies. Our world is built on the exploration and conquest of new spaces. The different cultural, economic, sociological and language interactions have shaped and characterised our modern-day world. Today, Asian people represents the biggest community of the world. Therefore, they should represented an important part of the immigration. It's what we tried to see during this chapter through the Asian immigration in the United States.  So, we can ask the following question : Asian immigration in the USA : is it always successful ? To answer this problem I would answer in 3 parts. First, we shall explain the facts of this immigration. Then, yes this new wawe of immigration in general is a success. And finally, no in certain cases the immigration isn't successful.

immigration

« helps, support itself.

In this community there is a real importance of the family and of the education.

in fact they are also highly -educated.

This immigration is very successful because the parents push their children to be excellent, force them to have good grades, pressurize them into succeeding, punish them into working even pay them into working.

Nonetheless, t he immigration is not success for all.

Indeed, the community, is not a lways well accepted like we see in the song " Galveston Bay", Vietnam was not well accepted.

Besides, n ot all the immigrants are highly educated, not all the immigrants are well integrated .

(example of restaurant owner) We can take the example of the restaurant owner : She is successful in term of money but she is not high -skilled and not well educated.

She doesn't have a lot of exc hanges with American people and she has recreated the same space with her job.

Indeed, some of them tend to live within the community like rely on job provided by the community : therefore there are lack of exchanges .

In addition, this immigration can creat e tensions with children.

The more they push their children, the wider the gap between them in term of language, culture, habits, mentalities, education, ideas.

They dream of becoming the exact opposite of their parents.

This creates tensions, misunderstan ding, miscommunication.

Extremely, kids can turning gangs to recreate a family because of the difference in culture to take the big change .

But things get completely different with the 3rd generation it create a gap a chasm with the previous ones.

Betwee n, a first generation s till badly integrated and the th ird very well integrated.

Finally, yes the Asian immigration is successful for some people on the whole , they generally immigrated to give their children a better life.

They succeeded in a certain ex tent if you consider the economic point of view.

B ut however it's no t perfect for everybody.

it's widened the gap between generations and so it's a failure in that respect.

Like with all immigration, it's not always easy to fit in a new country with a new culture.

It's the same with other communities who are not successful .

Doing better than other minorities have left their footprint on America society cou ld be an example for others ? Why not ?. »
