Voyage and return stories

According to me, voyage and return stories is that a character who travel out of his familiar surrounding into a new world completely cut off from the first and where everything seems disconcertingly abnormal. We can take Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe like the first real return story and from where was born the term « robinsonade « use to talk about a story who deals with a castaway who is going to live on  a desert island and where is behaviour is going to change. In fact, we can question us to know what are the appeal and the main features of Voyage and return story. From the example of Robinson Crusoe and throughout differents extracts, we will discover the elements whitch form a return story, and what they produces on the hero.

Every return stories is more or less identical. The return story realy beginning at the arrival of the hero on the desert island, when he had inderstood that he is going to live on a island for a long moment. Usually, there are two types of adaptation, first, it may happen that the hero didn’t have any problems to adapt his way of life. In the Coral Isand by R.Ballantyne, the three boys who are castaways live in harmony. Their new way of life don’t afraid them and they have learned to  adapt there life in a new environment. Indeed, the three boys did «  useful articles « like shoes with simple things, but very ingenious. Ralf, Jack and Peterkin live in harmony with in the wild and between them, they have learned to live differently.
