SHORT ANALYSIS AND WHY DID I CHOOSE IT:
This song was written by Justin Randall Timberlake .
He is an American pop musician, composer,
presenter and actor.
He is also very famous and known all around the world for his songs and the song
I just read.
The song Mirrors was written in honor of Justin Timberlake’s grandparents for their celebration of 63
years of marriage, and that is why the music video is very special to him.
The song is about loved ones being a reflection of one and other, the meaning behind it, is about the
love shared between two person and how deeply they care for each other.
Mirrors” is a love song to
someone that you feel like is, your sort of other half and it became a play on that.
The lyrics can be
interpreted in so many different ways depending on the viewer.
The lyrics are portraying such this
strong bond between two lovers.
There is lyrics supporting the theme of the song like:
“I’m looking right at the other half of me”
“Two reflections into one”
“You reflect me, I love that about you”
There is also literary examples, like the metaphor “Tomorrows a mystery, yesterday is history , he is
comparing things without actually using like or as, he is using a also using a simile example “It’s like
you’re my mirror” , he is here comparing his loved one to a mirror.
There is also multiple
personification like “is a space, that now you hold” , it’s not possible to hold a space , he is saying that
a person is filling his empty space and we have “My mirror staring back at me” , as we all know your
own mirror cannot stare back at you but he is using it to portrayed the person he deeply cares about.
Some of the lyrics acknowledging that once the husband has passed, there will be this huge hole in her
heart, but to not fear because they are there with them.
It also say, if one ever starts forgetting about that
special person, they should look in the past and remember everything about them, every small detail to
make them not forget about one another .
He basically symbolizes his love that he is giving is a reflection of himself.
Justin said that it was not
specifically about looking into a mirror, it’s just about one of the most valuable things in a relationship
is being able to constantly change and be individual but look to the other side of that relationship with
the person that you’re with and know that they’re changing as well individually but somehow, you two
can mirror each other and be the other half of that world that you both create.
I chose this song because of the signification and the power that this song has, but also because it is
very touchy, and it explains how we can view a loved one even if we haven’t experienced love in that
way because this song could be interpretated in many level.
But this song also brings me nostalgia
from when I was younger, and the song just came out and I would listen to it with my friends back in
middle school.
It just brings the memories all together.
But this song is also just a reminder, to me, to
all the people I love and how I see them..
