Prison.
The origins of prisons can be traced back to the rise of the state as a form of social organization.
At first
prison was a form of revenge, but then some Ancient Greek philosophers (Plato) started to think about it not as
retribution anymore but as a way to reform the prisoners.
During the 18th century, people started to rebel against the capital punishment and torture; too violent, so
rulers tried to find ways of punishment that were less violent and started to develop prisons.

Australia)
