THE FLAG :
DESCRITPION OF THE FLAG :
The Bear Flag is the official flag of the state of California .
The precursor of the flag
was first flown during the 1846 Bear Flag Revolt and was also known as the Bear Flag.
The modern flag is white with a wide red band at the bottom .
A red star is in the area
above the shaft and a bear, in profile , in the center walking on green grass .
Below it is
registered with the " California Republic ".
The bear is a " California Grizzly ", a now
extinct subspecies .
There is debate about the fact that the five-pointed star reminds the
Republic of Texas ( which has an identical flag lone star ) and the bear represents
strength..
