They offer him a deal: give up Ramon and he will be allowed to go free.
Pablodecides not to tell.Later he
decides to lie to them and tells them that Ramon is hiding in the cemetery.Thirty minutes later, one of the
officers comes back.
He orders the guard to take Pabloto the courtyard and assigns his case to a regular, not
military, tribunal.
Pablo does notunderstand why he is not going to be shot right away.
He spends the rest of
the daywith his fellow prisoners.That evening he sees a baker he knows.
The baker tells him that the
Falangistscaptured Ramon.
Apparently, Ramon left his safehouse due to an argument and wentto hide in the
cemetery.
The Falangists found him in the gravediggers' shack, just asPablo told them.
Pablo passes out.
When
he comes to he is sitting on the ground.
He islaughing so hard that tears come to his eyes..
