SOCIAL NETWORKING: Meaning The word/ term « social networking « was used to distinguish network for commercial (business) purpose and for social purpose. Now a social networking represents an online service, a website where we are able to chat with other people and leave them comments (for example: Facebook, MySpace. There are sites that allow people to comment). Not only persons use social network, as well as the companies in order to promote their products and make them known. It permits to create easily relations with people sharing same interests, activities, ... Every user has his own profile representing (most of the time) himself and her/his social links and a lot of another information about her/ him. At first there were funny websites but sadly, becoming more and more popular, persons use them to bully other persons (like gays, fat persons...) which often ended badly (as suicide). Another problem is the privacy of those websites. Often our informations' on those can be viewed by a lot of persons and not only our friend. It can be viewed by thieves, spammers, companies and even a potential boss (in this case, it can have an effect on our (future) job). Thankfully it doesn't happen all the time but we have to be careful PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE. A little bit of history about it: At first social networking were based on the same theme (like religion, studies...) and were for a professional aim or just for fun and can be free or paid. The first social networking website was classmate.com in 1995; it was a website enabling people to find their friend of "primary school, college, high school, university, former colleagues and veterans". This little anecdote to see that this kind of websites exists for a long-time (approximately 18 years). Social networking websites online exists since 2001 who become more popular with Friendster (in 2002. It became so popular that in 2005, My Space achieved a higher rate of visited pages than Google! Since 2009, Facebook (launched in 2004) become the biggest social networking website in the world (in only 5years). Worldwide Connectivity: It is a way of communication known in the World and because of this; it is easy for two people from different continents to communicate.

Now with Smartphones it is even easier to connect to any social network.

There is nothing easier or faster to search in than social networking.

If you want to find “ a romance, a new job, a locating assistance, getting and giving product and services referrals, receiving support from likes minded individuals or advice on career or personal issues” 2.

Commonality of interest: You can choose a social network community where people have the same likes and dislikes as yours and can join many groups or community (because you are there digitally so you can “be” on 2 communities at the same time).

There are a large number of groups for hobbies, for sports or other centers of interest that we can join and where we can meet new friends. 3.

Real-time information sharing: Due to online chat (known as instant messaging feature), it makes conversations easier 4.

Free advertisings: The easiest way to sharing informations to more than millions of people 24/7 5.

Increase news cycle speed: Make connections in the long run. 6.

Keep in touch: Keep in touch with friends, family...

The distance isn’t anymore a problem to stay “close” to them.

And you can know little news of them without especially talking to them (just by seeing their profile).

There are also another large number of people who have found their lost pets by placing adverts on social networks.

Also, and most importantly, many people have found lost friends or even lost family as a result of using social networks. 7.

Do whatever you want : Everyone is free to post what they want on social networks; photos, videos, podcasts… and share them with their friends and all of this for free and unlimited, meaning we can connect ourselves to these social networks 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 8.
